For those of you who know him, RON PATTERSON (W6FM) had a very severe
accident at home several weeks ago. He was trimming a tree at the time of
the accident. Evidently he was standing on top of a 10 or 12 foot high
ladder and

was cutting a large limb. It partially snapped and swung down knocking
the ladder from underneath him. He fell to the ground. He cracked several
ribs, several vertebrae in his back were damaged, he had internal
bleeding.

He also had torn tendons in his shoulder area.
 

Initially his back surgery was scheduled and then put off for a week or
so while the doctors tried to get some internal bleeding under control.
Surgery repaired his back however he is paralyzed from the waist down.


He is currently in a Santa Barbara Rehabilitation hospital. During the
initial rehabilitation they found the torn tendons in his shoulder area.

It is unclear how this will affect his rehabilitation efforts.


The good news is that he is in good spirit and is anxious to get out of
hospitals and get on with his new lifestyle.
