Fellow West Coast VHFers,

The annual North American High Speed Meteor Scatter Spring Rally
sponsored by the WSJTgroup will run from April 30 to May 9, 2005.
Checkout the rules at http://www.sportscliche.com/wb2fko/rally_2005.html

This rally period is over a week long, and it takes advantage of the
eta-Aquarid meteor shower. Contacts must be made via meteor scatter,
and any mode can be used (although the bulk of the activity will be WSJT
FSK441A). There are categories for high and low (<200 watts) power, and
assisted (skeds) and unassisted (no skeds or ping jockey) operation.
Contacts with your own grid square or any of the eight adjacent grids do
not count.

Take note of the unassisted/random procedures suggested at
http://www.ykc.com/wa5ufh/WSJTGROUP/randomhour.htm. QRM can be very
confusing on the calling frequencies (50.260 and 144.140), and the
WSJTgroup procedural recommendations are intended to alleviate that
problem. The Saturday morning "Random Hour" provides a good opportunity
to test your gear and hone operating procedures prior to the rally.

The Spring Rally will be a good opportunity to snag new grids or qualify
for some of the nice wallpaper available from the WSJTgroup.

I hope to work some of you during this event.

73,

Walt
