[Wswss] an FM contest???

About a week ago there was a brief discussion on the VHF contest reflector
concerning ways to get FM stations more involved in VHF contesting. In
addition to picking frequencies and getting the word out, another
interesting idea surfaced.
A club in Milwaukee sponsors an FM contest. The purpose is not just to have
a contest but to encourage FMers to trying contesting and simplex activity.
The contest runs on a Sunday afternoon and is only two hours, fifteen
minutes long. (I have the complete rules.)
Now I realize that FM and weak signal activity is somewhat of an oxymoron
but think the idea has merit. If exposed to VHF activity other than
repeaters, some FMers might move over to SSB/CW activity.
What do you think of running a similar contest out here on the west coast?
Do you think it might attract some new weak signal or contest stations or is
it a waste of time? Would you be willing to participate? If you like the
idea, do you think the WSWSS should be willing to sponsor such a contest?
