Does anyone have any experience using the ICOM 746Pro with a transverter,
specifically a DEMI 28MHz to 222MHz model #222-28?
DEMI recommends programming an antenna port for low power and interfacing
there. Icom says that you cannot program one antenna port different than
another or one band different than another. This would make it difficult in
a contest situation where band switching occurs often, even though the 746
is primarily used on 6 meters for VHF contesting, it would invite problems
to have to remember to change power levels when switching to 28MHz to use
the transverter. DEMI's other suggestion was to use their Transverter
Interface Box http://www.downeastmicrowave.com/PDF/tib.PDF but would require
more cables and switching. If anyone has any experience with equipment like
this I would sure appreciate your advice.
