WSWSS and PNW VHF Society:
Here is a message forwarded from the WSJTgroup. It contains interesting
information about new meteor scatter awards, sprints and the annual
Geminids contest. The WSJTgroup especially encourages random
(non-assisted) MS activity, and they are interested in promoting more
WSJT operation from the west coast.
73,
Walt, AJ6T

Subject: [wsjtgroup] Three Important Messages from the WSJTGROUP:
New Award (Century Grid Award)
Fall / Winter Sprints
Geminids Winter Contest
The WSJTGROUP announces the new Century Grid Award. This is the second
award being sponsored with the "Random QSO Award" being the first
offered. The Century Grid Award is available to all operators world
wide. Past contacts using HSCW or any other High Speed Meteor Scatter
technique is accepted along with all your FSK441 or JT6M contacts. The
rules are posted on the WSJTGROUP webpage. The certificate manager is
Terry (WA3LTB) and instead of "Certificate Numbers" the date the
certificate was achieved will be indicated on the individual
certificate. (Endorsements are available with date achieved).
The Fall / Winter Sprints will be starting again very soon. The
WSJTGROUP continues to champion the NA Activity Periods. Random Hour's
continue to be well supported and congratulations to those stations who
have qualified for the "Random QSO Award". For complete information go
to the webpage and update your calendars for the Sprints.

The Winter Contest, during the Geminids Annual Meteor Shower has been
scheduled. It starts on Saturday 0000 Dec 11 to 0700 Dec 15 (Friday
evening through Wednesday evening, North American time.) The dates have
been selected to make good use of the annual Geminids meteor shower. The
Geminids shower's predicted peak is Dec 13 at 2220 UTC ± 6 hours, but
the radiant is above the horizon from 0000 to 1500 UTC, so it would be
good if the peak is on the late side. Therefore the 13th and 14th,
evening and early morning should be the best days. The rules are on the
North American Meteor Scatter Rally / Contest webpage. Again, mark your
calendars and get your station tuned up for a great event.
