Thanks Jack, I thought this particular practice was getting worse, and I'm
glad to hear your ideas on it.
>3. ....and then K6LID asks him to QSY to band X. This bugs me. Why
>doesn't the DX station just say, "I will QSY there, but first I want to
>work everybody here who is waiting"?
And this doesn't happen just with DX; it happens often with any old Rover
who gets a call from his buddy, who immediately wants to work him on every
band he has. Problem is, they don't come back to the band you hear them
on. Could we please first finish with those who are waiting patiently --
and not calling on top of your friend ? Even when the list seems
satisfied, we might say "last call before QSY to 432.150" and listen a few
seconds more. This would even provide a chance to tell the station "and
please come back to (some other band) when you're done; we need you there."
With regard to items 1 and 2, there have been plenty of times I've heard
big, loud signals start calling CQ right over other big, loud stations
(also frequently calling CQ). I mostly work six meters at 8500 feet, so I
know that sometimes they really can't hear each other. But I agree that
there is little point in long calls on the calling frequency: it just makes
it less available to all.
We're looking forward to hearing you all again next weekend. 73
