Before everyone get their war bonnets all afire.....

The recent posting to the reflector by Kent K6FQ (probably not used
to being referred to as "you FMers as he has a long established
history of weak signal UHF-VHF SSB activity) regarding his FM contact
to the San Diego 2m Net (some how delayed in getting posted from
Tuesday to Friday) was not intended to condone a continual FM
presence on 144.300. It was simply a reclarification of previous made
plans to be able to contact him on the net in the rare grid of DM02
San Clemente Island, due to the fact that he was only able to take an
HT with him. Since he was unable to take his 817 to make the planned
SSB contacts on 144.230, the net frequency, he was simply making an
attempt to allow all interested in DM02 an opportunity to make the
contact during the 30 minute or so time that we were having our net
activity. We all realize that 144.300 is not the best place to work
but thought it would be convenient in this instance. Contact was made
by a couple of us and we moved up to a more realistic 144.415.

It is a very rare occasion that we have the opportunity to work DM02
as it is a military facility and we thank Kent for making the effort
to at least try and give anyone interested the opportunity.

All those interested should look us up on 144.230, 8pm Local time,
every Tuesday for the San Diego 2M SSB Net. We regularly get
check-in's from Arizona, Nevada and a good portion of the Southern
California area. (And on a rare occasion, DM02 San Clemente Island.)
