Hola,
I had an accident and smashed the 1296 beacon. (no not on purpose) It
will therefore be off the air for a few weeks. Just got a report from W6QIW
that it is radiating some as he is hearing it. It is QRP and will be
boosted up when I get back in town.
The other beacon news is that I have resurrected the 2 meter beacon on
144.288 and have been testing it on the air. We had the pleasure of
meeting Bob, KA6LSL, of Yuma and he has agreed to host the beacon from
Yuma. He plans on putting it on a short yagi to cover the LA and San Diego
areas. This will take place in a few weeks.
The other news is that I am heading south again to participate in an IOTA
expedition. The island is isla los chimus about 200 miles north of
Lima. I will be operating with 6 Peruanos and we will be using the call
OC3I. The island designator is SA074 and this is reported to be the first
time it is on the air. I don't know the equipment lineup, but hopefully we
will also be able to operate 6 meters. We most likely will have the OA4B
beacon up and running on 50.036. Give us a contact no matter what
band.. There should be some additional postings about the operation on DX
web sites.
