[Wswss] 1296 openings

For you 1296 ops out there...last Friday evening (30 Jul) after the WSWSS
net, WA6KLK and I noticed we had one of the localized summertime openings
that occasionally happen on this band. Len was so strong that I decided to
drop to 10 dbm (10 milliwatts) and see if he could copy OK, and sure
enough, he could still hear just fine. Len and I are about 150 miles
apart, me at sea level and he at 2600 ft. We got tired of it after an
hour, so we're really not sure how long this opening was there.

Last year, there were at least 3 such openings up here, and one of them
extended inland at least as far as WA6QAK in Pollack Pines (about 110
miles).

Anybody else out there experiencing similar conditions?
