RRR Jack,
I just happened to tune there now and after about 2 mins of listening to
white noise, your beacon came out of the noise S1 then back down under
the noise again !!!
Lots of deep slow QSB but hearing it !!! ( Apr 7th 2247 UTC ).

Hi Jeff,
You have a very cool call.
The 1296 beacon is up and running. I lowered the frequency a couple of
months ago to 1296.320. It is not locked so tune +/- a kHz or so. The
antenna consists of 4 vertically stacked homebrew short loop yagis ( 3
or 4
ft boom). Polarization is horizontal. Gain estimated at 20 dBi. Power
out
is 18 Watts. The ID is the call and grid for about 15 seconds and then
a
long 5 second dash.
The WSWSS beacon page info is a little out of date, but you can see a
photo
there of the antenna. WSWSS.org , click on operating aids then go to
western states beacons.
I use the same antenna when I am on the band. If you hear the nicely
you
can call me and I can get on with 35 Watts.(K6QXY's amp). 619 224-8879
We are in the planning stages for a DM11 Mexican operation for the June
contest. We will probably have many operators so will spend some time
on
1296. We will use 35 Watts and hopefully 2 long loop yagis. This will
be
a good opportunity for those who need XE or DM11 on the band to get it.
