I've just inherited a piece of gear from the TV station where I work. It
was a system called "Digital New Express"...used to provide interconnect
to the public telephone system via a Ku-band uplink from our satellite
truck. There are a number of interesting modules in the thing, including
a 1150MHz synthesizer and a synthesizer that presently operates on
13.050GHz.
I am trying to find info on the 13.050GHz synth, which is in a box made
by SSE Technologies. A phone call to an SSE Technologies in Virginia was
not helpful. I'd very much like to determine whether or not this
synthesizer can be made to change frequency to something more useful for
10 or 24GHz work. As is the case with most gear of this sort, there is
no technical information whatever at the station :>(
In addition there is another box that I believe was also part of the DNE
system and is marked as a Harris model 2421. This contains a large
quantity of interface modules (probably for connection to the telco
system) as well as the Ku-band amplifier, which I would expect is at
least a few watts output. Once again, a call to Harris in Melbourne, FL,
was unproductive.
Anyone out there have any knowledge of this gear or possible contacts
that may get me some useful information?
Thanks,
Jack, W7PW
