Howdy all:

I can tell there is some heat in the air over this whole north and south
thing. But this isn't the Civil War, this is the WSWSS. I am not sure who
pee'd on who's Wheaties, and I don't really care either. Can't we just
bury the past and move on? We are all in this together. The bottom line
is, we are all hams that enjoy working weak signal.

Instead of pointing fingers and criticizing each other, let's come up with
a solution that works for everyone. When you think about it, we also have
members in Arizona, Nevada, Hawaii and Mexico that attend the
conference. So it really isn't a simple north/south California thing.

Personally I don't have a problem with holding something in Fresno. In
fact, I think the best conference we ever had was the one at Montecito
Sequoia Lodge. That was a great place.

I used to be involved in HF County Hunting. They used to have
mini-conferences during the year, all over the US. Then they would have
one major conference in a different state every year. That is really
similar to what we are doing now. Larry is busting his tail to keep people
active in Nor-Cal, holding his "grip & grins." Chuck and Pat are busy
doing that down in the LA area. Mick is doing it once a month in the San
Diego area. So now it is time for our one "General Conference." No one
said it had to be in southern California. But, it appears that no one
other than Dave has stepped up to the plate and volunteered to organize
anything.

I have been in many clubs and I was just the president of my local area
club last year. The problem with every club is that there are about 15
people out of 300 members who volunteer to help with stuff. I spent many a
day beating the bushes trying to get people to volunteer with my local
club. I am sure that you can understand how frustrating it can be when no
one wants to help and the same 15 people end up doing all the work.

This is what I propose. We need to put aside all past problems and bad
blood. Life is too short to stress out over stupid stuff. If you have an
idea for a conference site, let David know. Then we need several people to
volunteer to help David put the thing together, wherever we decide to hold
the thing. I can't speak for David, but I would bet that he suggested
Cerritos again because it was easy and he hadn't heard from anyone.

Now I am not pointing the finger at anyone and I am not trying to stir the
turds. I just think that we need to come together as a group and break up
this whole north/south conflict. If we can't do that, what is the point of
even having a group?
