Friends,
I am trying to formulate my plans for the upcoming ARRL UHF contest as
well as the September VHF contest and would like some input. I have
several options depending upon what your plans are! I realize that the
Aug UHF contest is traditionally very slow. Having said that, I have all
bands from 222 MHz. to 10 GHz. (minus 5.67 GHz.). I guess I'm wondering
about rover activity in August, if any (is there typically any rover
activity in this contest?)
My plans for the September contest are likewise up in the air. I would
like to know what microwave bands will be available in what grids. Also
what, if any, rovers will be microwave equipped. I have (at Fresno
State, DM06) all bands 6 meters through 10 GHz (minus 5.7 GHz.). All
antennas at 150' or higher.
I'm asking this up front because I missed an easy 10 GHz contact with
W9JIM (?), Jim Moss in DM07 this June. I was in DM04 and neither of
asked the question "do you have any other bands" or tried to coordinate.
Shame on us!
I have other possibilities for September as far as mountain toping. DM04
(8,000), DM05 (8,000'), CM97 (4,000'). All locations, I would deploy all
bands from 50 MHz to 10 GHz (minus 5.7 GHz.) and be a SOLP
I guess, I'm trying to solicit everyone else's plans for these contests
so I can formulate mine.
73 and Best regards,
Dave
