Hello Jeff,

At my base station I run 1W and a 2' dish, DX under great conditions is
830 + Km

For my portable set up 200 milliwatts and a 2' dish, I work everything
I can hear on 10 GHz.

at 10.368 GHz and a 2' diameter dish 3 dB beamwidth is about 3.5
degrees, so going
to a bigger dish, if possible, increases the requirement to point it
accurately.

For tropo, my next change will be 50W at the antenna, with a very low
noise front end.

Tropo is not local, local is line of sight. Tropospheric scatter is
the longer DX, 500+ miles

My base station is a kluge with a microwave phase locked brick
oscillator a connectored mixer,
attenuator pads, w/g filter, and QUALCOM PA and preamp.

Portable is a DB6NT transverter with IC-706MKII as a 2M IF strip.

I like the DEM Inc. transverter with their 2W PA. I have talked to a few
of them....
