Pete,

I've been seeing lots of discusion over the change to QST. Specifically
theARRL wants to downsize the magazine to make up a $100,000.00 deficit. On
the chopping block are the Section Manager news (small print in the back,
which I bet fewer than 5 percent reading this post even bother to read) and
contest results. Since becoming a League official I've been getting lots of
information on this. Good news for us contesters! QST is limited in the
number of pages they can devote to a specific event. The ARRL has stated
that the results will be published on the ARRL website and all entrants, read
everyone that submits a log, will have his/her scores listed and broken down
(unlike now where its the top ten). This is great for those that like to
compare their results with the friends. Another plus to the website is that
scores would be published within a month or two after log submission
deadline. No more waiting close to a year! The other big reason besides the
timeliness, more content can be put there, pictures, larger soapbox, etc. So
there are some advantages. Yet there are those few folks that don't have
internet or a computer, yet they are the very small minority. In my
section Ihave 80 year old guys that have internet and are computer savy, who sez you
can't teach an old dog?
