Are there a couple of people who can carry conference brochures to some
local clubs to advertise the conference? I have had some good response,
but I need people to take brochures to the San Bernardino Microwave
group; the Downey Amateur Radio Club; the TRW Amateur Radio Club; and the
West Coast Amateur Radio Club. If you are a member of any of these
organizations and can do this chore please e-mail me with your mailing
address and how many brochures you need.
It is going to be a great conference. Our banquet Saturday evening will
be one of the high lights of the conference. Our guest speaker is:
Joel Harrison, W5ZN
Joel was first licensed as WN5IGF in 1972. After college and work on the
U.S. Navy's nuclear submarine fleet, he began working in the field of
Non-Destructive Testing on piping systems in the nuclear industry. In
1983, after extensive design and development on an automated ultrasound
imaging system, he was the first person in the world to certify its use
for nuclear applications at the Electric Power Research Institute. Joel
has continued his education in Physics at the Fraunhofer Institute in
Germany and in Robotics at Carnagie Mellon University. Joel is currently
employed by Washington Group International as Director, NDE Engineering
and is a frequently invited speaker to international conferences. Joel
maintains a station on all amateur bands from 1.8 MHz through 47 GHz. He
is on the DXCC Honor Roll, holds DXCC Challenge Award with 1370
band-countries, and has DXCC on 7 bands. He holds WAS and WAC on 6 and 2
meters and VUCC on 10 bands (50 MHz through 10 GHz) plus satellite VUCC.
He holds the all time world record for the ARRL June VHF Contest Single
Operator and the Delta Division record for the ARRL UHF Contest Single
Operator. Joel has served on the Board of Directors of the American Radio
Relay League, and is currently First Vice President.
The program is shaping up nicely:
