I have mixed feelings on this. On the one hand it is
great, because I also enter the IARU contest (one of
my favorite on HF), and the conflicting dates always
caused a problem. However, wonder about 6 meter
conditions by going later in the month of July. Yes
we can and will still get some eskip, but it always
seems like we had great conditions (well most of the
time) for the CQVHF contest.
I would like to see it moved a week earlier. This
will put it closer to the 4th of July weekend in the
US-which might lead to more portable operations, and
will probably have slightly more eskip openings. I
realize that it is the same weekend as the European
FD, but they can take a VHF station with them and work
both contests. We have had very good luck running VHF
at our FD sight in recent years.
