Glen,
There was a very nice japanese knock-off of the Astatic JT-30
made in Japan and sold here under the Calrad label.
WRL sold it in their 1965 Catalog.. but it was decidedly metal with baked
enamel finish.
Probably also sold under other labels. .
The Calrad mic.. had a metalic bullet body ( metallic blue or
gray not sure which, but I seem to remember blue) and a chrome grill ala
JT-30.
This was a Hi-Z Crystal mic, with the 5/8 pipe thread stand hole at
the
back... no ptt switch of course.
If you contact WA6HDY bernie.. I know he owns a Calrad - as I did as
a kid in 1961. He can at least show you a picture.
However... I haven't ever seen a PLASTIC version of this kind of mic.
If anybody were likely to sell a cheaper version.. I think it would have
been Philmore.
Sorry I can't really help.
