There isn't any reason for me to think that the power transformer isnt the
same one used in a million globe scouts, and globe chiefs.
If you can find a canniblized WRL scout or chief.. with a good donor
tranformer..your problem is solved.
The basic diagram is available on the Bama reflector.
What you will find is that the basic block diagram is pretty much the
same... except for the osc/multiplier..
as it is in a Globe Scout. Same basic xtal osc, heising modulator, and
6146 final. Same power supply.
The multiplier stage is not enough difference to require a power transformer
with different specs.
Note there are entirely separate tank circuits for 6 and 2 m.
But, that doesnt require more power from the transformer.
In 1965 WRL listed excess stock Replacement Transformers...at $ 9.95
the ad said quote :
"Direct replacement for all Globe Scouts and Deluxe series and All Globe
Chiefs Model 90 and 90 A.
115v primary.
Sec #1 1300v CT @ 250 ma
Sec#2 6.3v @ 4 amp
Sec#3 5.0V @ 3 amp
4 7/16 x 3 7/8 x 4 5/8
That is the Vertical above chassis xfmr.
The horizontal mount xfmr for the Globe Chief Deluxe had the same specs
but mounts on it's side. $ 6.95 !!
So... I dont believe there is any reason to think that the DSB-100 nor the
VHF 62 had any different transformer.
That would have bucked a well established practice of using as many
components in common across the
"low power" product line.
Look inside a scout, chief, DSB-100, and VHF 62 and you will see what I
mean.
