I received this email below last summer and am just circling back to this, I have attached the new task book and the old one you had approved before the new standards, can you go though and approve in my new textbook what still is good and what I have to redo, IF you could send me back the updated new textbook that would be helpful so I can get to work on this.

Good morning all - 

 

I am attaching the new ARRL ARES Task Book for your use.  The League has undertaken a large-scale review of the requirements to continue as an ARES member and I wanted to briefly summarize them for you all.

 

1. The new Task Book is attached as a Word document and an Adobe PDF file.  You may use whichever one is easiest for you.  

 

2. You are responsible for maintaining your own task book.  Your EC/DEC may sign off as needed but the Task Book is your personal record of training and experience.

 

3. All ARES membership levels now require updated training.  If you have not taken ICS 100 and 700 <https://training.fema.gov/is/>  in the past 5 years you must do so again.  If you have not taken the new ARRL Basic EmComm course <https://learn.arrl.org/>  you must do so to maintain your ARES Level 1 Basic membership.  Levels 2 and 3 require additional training.

 

4. ARES Level 2 Intermediate requires participation in some event, exercise or on-air net once per calendar quarter.  

 

5. Other requirements remain unchanged - Level 1 Basic and Level 2 Intermediate do not require ARRL membership, and a Technician license remains the minimum for both of those levels as well.

 

6. While no deadline has been announced for completion of these new training courses all WMA ARES members are encouraged to complete them as soon as possible.
