 The Flour Lakes Amateur Radio Club March membership meeting is tomorrow! Please join us on March 21st at 7:30pm CST in welcoming Michael Martens, KB9VBR, to our club. He will be presenting "Solar Power for Amateur Radio".

Michael can trace one of his initial exposures to amateur radio to an University of Wisconsin Engineering Expo he attended as a college student back in the late 1980s. Fast forward 10 years and interest grew to the point where he passed his Novice and Technician exams to receive a Tech Plus license. He soon upgraded to General and stepped up to Extra in 2002. His interest in ham radio is wide and varied, and that shows in the video content he produces on his popular Youtube channel. But the common themes of portable operation, antenna construction, and casual contesting are prevalent. Martens currently enjoys taking his equipment out in the field and participating in the popular Parks on the Air program.  
Professionally Michael Martens is self employed, running an online business selling amateur radio antennas and accessories and producing online content. In addition he currently serves as an Alder on the Wausau City Council. Martens is married to Christine and they have two adult children. 
As always we will have the meeting room open early, so feel free to join and chat with other members beforehand. The program will start at 7:30PM CST with a question and answer session for Michael to follow. After this we will have our normal business meeting, including elections for President, Vice President and Secretary as those positions remain unfilled. Please consider running for one of the positions or nominate someone who you believe would make a good officer.
