Subject: HAPPY 4th of JULY ! ...and a few notes of interest
Happy 4th of July !
I hope everyone had a great Field Day. During
the FD weekend I was able to visit and observe
21 different Field Day sites. Thank you to all of
the groups for their warm hospitality. The weather certainly
was in our favor this year and even band conditions
seemed to cooperate, somewhat.
I need to express a big note of thanks to
Mr. Brent Walls, N9BA for the excellent job that
he has done as the ARRL Section Manager for Indiana.
Brent had decided to not run again for another term
as SM and he leaves as his legacy a well-run Indiana
field organization, it is undoubtedly one of the
finest run field organizations in the Country.
Brent, thank you for your dedication and
efforts. Congratulations are in order
for Mr. Jimmy Merry, KC9RPX, of Bloomington, Indiana
as he assumes his new position as Indiana Section Manager.
The news from the ARRL Board, as posted on the
Central Division Website, http://central.arrl.org/
is that the agenda for the ARRL July Board meeting
later this month does not include any proposed major
changes to either the ARRL Bylaws or Articles of Incorporation.
Nothing has been circulated within the Board.
Should there are any proposals I will post
them to the Central Division website and send
an email to the Division.
The current update on the proposed change to the
Code of Conduct (from the January Board meeting)
is that the Executive Committee is considering
a simplified version of the "Code".
The editing has taken longer than expected and
final version is expected to be distributed
later this fall for consideration. Meaning
that no action will be undertaken on the
"Code" at this July 2018 Board Meeting. I will
post any draft that has been released to the
ARRL Central Division website.
A report from the CEO Search Committee will be
the pivotal points of business at this meeting.
At this time there is nothing that I can report
to the Division. The position of CEO was filled
by Mr. Barry Shelley, N1VXY last year with the
understanding that a new CEO would be appointed
in the near-term. As you have no doubt read, the
call for applicants has been made and the
CEO selection process is underway.
Please contact me with any questions about the
July ARRL Board meeting by email at
