[WIham] More Cellcom Green Bay Marathon Volunteers Needed!

We still need volunteers for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon on Sunday, May
18th from 6:00am until about 2:30pm. It will require at least 65-70 radio
operators to support the marathon. Currently we at at 37.

Please talk it up at your clubs and with your friends. A Tech license and a
2 meter HT is the minimum requirement. Newcomers will be paired up
operators from last year. It's actually a lot of fun and pretty easy to
work. The Medical Station along the courses (about every 1.5 miles) are
staffed with EMT's and medical personnel. Each Med Station should have 2
radio operators that "shadow" the EMT when a runner goes down or needs
attention. The EMT works to stabilize the "patient" and so he doesn't have
to stop what he's doing, he or she will tell the radio operator he needs a
1) MED Van, 2)Fatigued Runner Shuttle Bus or 3) an ambulance. One radio
operator logs the call and the other operator contacts the Net Control
Station and relays his Med Station Number and the EMT's request (along with
a bib number of the runner). Net control then has a Transportation
Dispatcher contact the Van or Shuttle and sends them out. If an ambulance
is requested, the Transportation Dispatcher hands the information to the
EMS liaison and they dispatch the ambulance.

opportunity to use your skills and equipment for something useful while
having some fun!

Join us! Hotel rooms are provided (on a shared basis, 2 to a room) for
those driving in from out of the area. The pre-race meeting is at 5:45am on
Sunday morning so you don't want to be driving in at 2 am. Come in the
night before and get a good nights sleep!
