The Madison Area Repeater Association is testing Yaesu's new DR-1 analog/digital repeater on 147.150.  The repeater can act as a traditional FM repeater (123.0 PL access) or as a digital repeater using Yaesu's C4FM FDMA digital mode.

Initially we will be testing the repeater in "auto" input mode, where it will automatically detect either analog or digital mode on the input frequency and "fix" output mode to transmit FM only on the output.  
(Everyone listening on a standard 2 meter radio will hear everything, no matter what the input signal is.)

We will occasionally (and briefly) place the repeater in digital-only mode where the input and output will both be FDMA digital to compare its performance with traditional analog FM.  
FM users will only hear noise on the output frequency when W9HSY/R is in full digital mode.

We will be filing reports with Yaesu and need signal reports from all 147.150 users, and comparisons between the DR-1 repeater and the Vertex repeater which had been in use until recently.  
The Vertex is still installed and can be switched back on the air in a short time if necessary.
