Greetings, FLARCians

    September 17thwill bring
our general meeting, at the usual Space Place  (2300 S. Park Street, Madison,
lower level of the Villager Mall)  and usual time, 7:30 PM.  
     
   Our featured program will be on D-Star,  presented
by local D-Star wizards Tom/WJ9H and Bob/WB9RND.  
Tom and Bob are officers
in MARA, and MARA has added D-Star capability to the local repeater
environment. 
In addition to a D-Star overview, I anticipate that these
gentlemen will be able to tell you how to register your D-Star identity with
the system so you, too, can take advantage of the wide area linking that is an
intrinsic part of the D-Star infrastructure.

     We have some vintage publications
available to add to your personal ham libraries, courtesy of Jim Young. 
Callbooks, ARRL Handbooks, specialty ARRL (and other) publications, and a
selection of Heathkit catalogs from once-upon-a-time are some of the things
that will be available.    
   
   HAM CLASS REMINDER - -  
September 28-29 is the schedule for the next Technician
class.  This class will be offered at Space Place  - - if you have
aspiring hams in your circle of friends, please remind them to register by
