Re: Yellow Thunder Amateur Radio Club Events
Greetings!
The Yellow Thunder Amateur Radio Club in Baraboo, WI would like to announce two upcoming amateur radio-related events that they will be putting on in August, 2013.
The first event is a special events station that the club will be operating on August 16, 17, and 18. From 1500Z to 2100Z (10am – 4pm local) each day the club will be on the air as station “W9S” from the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club's show to help celebrate the 50th running of the event.
This annual event showcases many antique steam and gasoline-powered tractors and other equipment and includes live demonstrations and a (non ham related) swap meet.
Every year the event draws thousands of visitors to their 146 acre show site. You can find the W9S station set up in the “Features” building near the front gate.
We will be operating phone on 7.240MHz and 14.240MHz during station hours. If any licensed amateur radio operators are interested in operating from the W9S station please stop by and see us.
QSL certificates will be available for any station making contact on the air with W9S during the event. Come down and celebrate with us!
Secondly, the Yellow Thunder Amateur Radio Club would like to announce the 2013 edition of the Circus City Swap Fest. This will be the 17th running of the swap fest event.
We have a change in venue this year as the Badger Steam and Gas Engine Club will be hosting us at their show facility.
This new location will allow us to expand the swap fest sales floor to include outside “tailgating” spots, as well as sales tables located indoors. (All this with no steps to contend with!)
The swap fest will run from 8am to 1pm on Saturday, August 24th. We will have many door prizes to give away as well as two grand prize amateur radios courtesy of Pointon Communications.
Talk-in will be on the 147.315MHz WB9FDZ repeater (+ 123Hz).
There will be VE testing available at 10 am so study up for that new or upgraded license!
Admission to the show is just $5 at the door and a sales spot is only $10.
