Technician
Amateur Radio License Class
Details & Logistics

Below are details & logistics for the upcoming Space Place Amateur Radio Technician License Workshop, February 25 & 26, 2012.

The workshop schedule is:
Saturday, February 25, 8 AM to 5 PM
Sunday, February 26, 8:30 AM to 5 PM

There is no charge for this workshop.  However, you are required to obtain the book entitled "The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual" $29.95.
You can purchase the manual from the ARRL, www.arrl.org/catalogorcall 888-277-5289 or Amateur Electronic Supply in Milwaukee.
Phone 800-558-0411 or use their web site: www.aesham.com.
The local book stores may, also, carry it. You'll find that this book is truly a good investment, for its reference and
operational material will continue to be useful to you long after you have acquired your ham radio license.
The book is, also, available on loan from the Four Lakes Amateur Radio Club library.

Please get this book ASAP, if you register for the workshop!  The book is designed for self-study, and you will find it easy to use.
Just start at the front and forge ahead!  As the workshop weekend approaches we will send you a syllabus
to tell you what material will be covered in the workshop sessions.  We cannot, however, cover all the material in adequate depth in just two days;
therefore, your home study is a MUST!! I cannot emphasize this enough!

Note also that there will be several experienced instructors (all volunteers) teaching different sections of the course and
presenting many aspects of the fascinating hobby of ham radio.

Registration is available by email to: wa9se at arrl.net
We will use email for as much of the correspondence as possible, which helps keep our costs down.
You will help us if you do the same, if you can, and send any questions or other correspondence to wa9se at arrl.net.

A Technician license exam will be given from 3-5 PM on that Sunday.  If you want to take the exam (and why not?  You'll never be better prepared!)
The FCC-required fee is $15.00.  A check or money order in that amount made out to ARRL/VEC is preferable to cash.
Also bring two forms of identification; one must be a photo ID.
We will take a lunch break (Dutch treat) plus other breaks, each day.  Refreshments and snacks will be provided at Space Place.

If you cannot readily use email, send mail to:

Space Place Amateur License Workshop
2300 S. Park St.  (Villager Mall)
Madison, WI
53713

Directions: From the Beltline (Hwys 12-18), take the Park Street exit north. Go about 0.5 mile.
Space Place is on the left in the Villager Mall. Enter by the door at the large "2300" sign. Space Place is in the lower level.
