A-M-S MEETING
The next meeting of the Milwaukee AMS (American Meteorological Society)
will be this Thursday April 26th, 7 PM, room N 101 in Lapham Hall on the
U-W Milwaukee campus. This is at the intersection of North Maryland and
East Kenwood on Milwaukee's east side. Jake Wimberly and Ed Townsend
from the Sullivan NWS office will cover the new Dual Pole radar and why our
spring was so warm. The program is free and open to the public.
NEW RADAR TRAINING MODULE
The COMET institute has released a new 2 hour on-line training module covering
radar principles, limitations, and imagery. This module is designed as a refresher
for the more advanced user, but has a broad emphasis on basis radar imagery,
including frequently seen reflectivity and velocity images that a newcomer can
readily understand. Registration; e-mail and select a password are required.

STORM SPOTTER TRAINING SLIDES
The storm spotter training programs held in southcentral and southeast Wisconsin
for the past few months are now concluding. However the slides seen in these
presentations are now on-line and can serve as refresher material for those who
missed the programs. The slide sets are on both the NWS Sullivan and Milwaukee

Skywarn is the identification, evaluation, and reporting of dangerous weather.
