2011 Conference Announcement

Wisconsin ARES/RACES Conference, Wisconsin Rapids, Saturday, October 22ndMcMillian Memorial Library, in Wisconsin Rapids
This years theme: Mutual Aid: Being There For Each Other

Today being an effective volunteer could mean relying on your ARES/RACES neighbors for help. How and when is Mutual Aid implemented? How does its implementation affect you, the Wisconsin ARES/RACES volunteer? What are the challenges you encounter when you request Mutual Aid and need additional ARES/RACES resources? How do you reciprocate, giving assistance back to those who helped you?

Keynote speaker, Steve Sell is well prepared to discuss Mutual Aid concepts and the relationship of volunteers with public safety agencies. Steve is a former Wisconsin Emergency Management Administrator. His highest career accomplishments, in addition to his past WEM leadership position, include serving as the Marquette County Sheriff and as a Lieutenant with the Wisconsin State Patrol. Today he carries his tradition of public service forward by actively serving as a volunteer fire fighter.

From ARRL Wisconsin Section Manager:
The Main Event this month is the Wisconsin ARES/RACES conference on October 22 in Wisconsin Rapids.

This year, we have it as a single day event, in central Wisconsin, and it is free to anyone!  It doesn’t get any better.

If you are considering becoming involved in ARES, this is a great opportunity to see what ARES is about in Wisconsin, meet the Emergency Coordinator for your county,
talk informally about their programs and activities.

It is going to be a great conference.   You have until this Sunday, 16th , to register.

I hope to see you there!

73, Don, W9IXG
