If you hear an unusual amount of 2m, 70cm, 6m and 1.25m
activity today on FM simplex, it's because the MRAC is having
their annual FM Simplex Contest this afternoon, from 1-3:30pm.
4 things:
1) Plenty of stations will be on, looking for activity both near
and outside of Southeast WI.
2) These type of contests are becoming very popular with hams
all across the country. See Page 79 in the January 2010 QST for
more info. That's last year -- 2010.
3) For more info, including what times, bands and a link to the
contest sponsor's website, go directly to this link at my website:
http://kc9bqa.com/?p=4130
4) If this sounds interesting, try doing it in your own area.
It's
a great way to get hams actually on the air.
Have fun, 73,
