KB9KTD - HUBER-LAN - EQ-REPAIR Greetings all:

The LaCrosse area 146.46 Thursday net starts at 8:30 pm CST.

Topic this week:
Would a 24-7 packet bulletin board be a useful tool in the area? .
  Talking points:
1.Could be run in aprs fashion, ie unconnected packets moreless like an
open chat room at times and a message board other times.
 2. I know many of you have a tnc just sitting there, and 5 watts will cover the valley basin well as recent nets/events have shown.
 3. If you don't have a tnc you can use sound card mode, even w/ just a
scanner you can monitor and decode packets w/ a simple telnet client.
 4. Would such a packet net be better having nodes or a main BBS / mailbox?
 5. Would it be best to simply start out w/ Winlink or something else?

The ARRL Sept. VHF contest is coming up... only 9 days away.. time to hang that 6 meter dipole or that new 2 meter loop...

Hope to hear you on the air and have a safe holiday weekend.

73,

Dave, WV9E
