Wednesday has become an exciting night for longer-range
VHF communications. Many of you have 2m SSB with your
all-bands-in-one-box rigs. Get a horizontally-polarized antenna
to maximize your range and hear what you've been missing.
We have Terry KA0KYZ in EN33, SE MN, who is on
144.230, starting at 7pm. He is easily workable clear across
WI, has a good QTH and decent beam antennas.
We also have Mark WB9LYH in EN54, near WI Rapids.
Huge signal -- he regularly works guys out to 300-500 miles,
even with flat band conditions. Mark is on 144.240, and
focuses on stations to his east at first. WB9LYH is more
focused on WI starting about 7:30pm central.
More detail is always available at kc9bqa.com.
We also encourage the use of a real-time chat room on Wed.
nights. It's free, no BS, and available for all USA/VE hams.
Go to www.on4kst.com and follow the prompts to register. Once
registered, choose "IARU Region 2 Chat for 144/432 MHz"
Questions? Email and I'll try to help.
