Coming up on 2 years of enjoying the 146.430 FM Simplex
Net. I'm sure we're in the neighborhood of 200-250 unique
calls checking in by now. Hams enjoy point-to-point comms
on VHF.
We need to keep spreading the word, so guys know their
options. The reason I've started posting to this list is to spread
the word to all of WI . Will you help?
We enjoy light signals and DX-type check-ins. So if you're
thinking, "I'll never hear a guy in southern Sheboygan county.",
give a listen anyway. Or email me ahead of the net and ask me
to point my 10 el yagi at you. This doesn't even have to be on a
Thursday night.
For instance, I should be out in the shed a fair amount this
weekend, handing out V/UHF contacts to similarly-equipped
Field Day stations. If your club or a few of your buddies wants
a contact, I'll be happy to help.
The main thing is to show guys how there *IS* activity
beyond the repeater. Just need to know where/when to look.
After Field Day, the next big event for V/UHF is the CQ
WW VHF Contest, from 1pm Sat. July 17th until 4pm Sun.
July 18th. This contest is 6 and 2 meters only, which are the
two bands most any VHF'er has. We're looking for a BIG
push all across WI in this contest. Had at least 24-26 new
callsigns in my contest log last July. Want to keep encouraging
newer guys to give this exciting part of ham radio a try.
Hope to hear some of you during the net tonight.
