What is It?
How Does it Work?
 
Like HD television (HDTV), HD radio allows more than one broadcast signal to occupy the same frequency.  HD radio in the United States uses a method called In-Band On-ChannelAM/FM Broadcasting (IBOC..)
A presentation on IBOC is being hosted by the Southeastern Wisconsin FM Amateur Repeater Society (SEWFARS.)  The topics include how IBOC works, what equipment is used and little detail about the makeup of the Radio Frequency (RF) systems used in IBOC today.  Also planned with the slideshow and photos is a demonstration on the equipment used.  This should be a great experience for all attendees!
Anyone interested in attending is invited.  The presentation date is January 28, 2010 (the Fourth Thursday in January) at the Equitable Bank; 21215 Moreland Boulevard
Waukesha.  Start time will be 7:30pm.
The presenter is Chris (“Doc”) Tarr CBNT, CBRE, DRB.  Since 2003, Chris has been the Director of Engineering for Entercom’s radio stations in Milwaukee (WMYX-FM, WSSP-AM and WXSS-FM) and in Madison (WCHY-FM, WMMM-FM and WOLX-FM.)  Chris also works as a contract Engineer for several other stations in Wisconsin as well.
Chris served one term on the Society of Broadcast Engineers’ (SBE) National Board of Directors in 2006, was the Chair of the IT Strategies Committee, and in 2008 was given the SBE Chapter 28 Wulliman Award in recognition of extraordinary service to the SBE and the Broadcast Engineers of Southeast Wisconsin..
