Subject: SKYWARN: Tornado Awareness Week And Drill

APRIL 19-23 IS
TORNADO AWARENESS WEEK.... A STATEWIDE DRILL SET FOR APRIL
22.

Wisconsin Governor Jim
Doyle has proclaimed April 19-23, 2010 as Tornado and Severe Weather Awareness
Week in Wisconsin.
On April 22, 2010, between 1-2 PM a statewide tornado drill is planned
when all five
National Weather
Service offices will issue mock tornado watches and warnings. The drill is
designed to test
your ability to receive
weather warnings, disseminate the message, and then activate your safety/shelter
plans.
If actual severe
weather occurs anywhere in the state on April 22nd the tornado drill will be
postponed until
Friday, April 23 with
the watch/warnings issued at the same time.

Plan now for this
test at your home and work locations. Also for schools, hospitals,
institutions, sporting centers,
or large gathering venues to reveal
system weaknesses. During the week educational and informational
messages
will be issued on NWS websites, the weather wire,
participating TV media, and NOAA weather radios. Note: Some
of the newer weather
radios will not hear the mock warning since it is being sent under the
Required Weekly Test
(RWT) mode.
