Greetings!
Field Day is "on". We have permission to operate from the American Red
Cross building in Quincy on June 25 and 26. I have stuck my neck out (never
a good idea for poultry to do this..) and am "chairing" the event.
Several notes:
1) There appear to be no restrictions concerning masks during our occupation
of the facility. Those who wish to wear masks may do so, but they are not
required, and no questions will be asked regarding COVID-19 vaccination
status. Anyone who does not feel well should stay home..
2) There will be no carry-in dinner. There will be snacks and bottled water
available. Attendees may feel free to bring food and water if they so
desire.
3) Setup will begin about 10:30 a.m. on Saturday as some of us will be
involved in the Raider Run earlier that morning. The intent is to run our
operation for the full 24-hour period, from 1 pm Saturday until 1 pm Sunday.
Success in doing this will depend upon having some dedicated operators and
doing some planning ahead of time regarding operating schedules. It happens
that I will be otherwise occupied for most of Sunday morning with speaking
engagements. I will, however, be back in time to help tear down the station.
4) Some of us need to get together prior to the weekend to check out
equipment, some of which has not been used in months. The intention
(probably) is to run an SSB station and digital station from the club room
and a CW station from the meeting room next door. The CW station will be
using something other than club equipment. At this point, I don't know if we
will need to erect antennas in addition to the ones that are in place (beam,
dipole, vertical).
5) I need to hear from anyone who is interested in participating, be it set
up, operate, observe or tear down. Please reply to me at
mailto:n9jf at arrl.net ASAP.
Cliff, please pass this on to the Hannibal group as they are invited to
participate.
73, Jim N9JF
