Will paste the summary of what Winter Heat 2023 is below. This group has a Facebook page and can also be found on hamactive.com . This event is a month long and is for us in VHF/UHF frequencies using FM/Digital Voice. Mostly FM though. Chris , NR9Q WINTERHEAT is a month long amateur radio simplex event. The goal and purpose is for amateur radio operators to make as many contacts as possible over a month long period of time using only designated simplex frequencies. In our fourth year, WINTERHEAT has grown from 150 participants the first year to over 1,000 registered participants in 2022. You can help make WINTERHEAT an even bigger success this year by helping us spread the word about the event. Mention the event on your local Nets, post information to your local amateur radio social media pages or simply telling a couple of your amateur radio friends at a club meeting. On a past tower project I used a schedule 40 1.5? (1.9? OD) galvanized water pipe. Decided to do more looking for this project to acquire something with more strength. Was able to locate schedule 80 (tried 160, but no luck). The schedule 80 is galvanized. I will list the prices I was able to quoted below. The only small set back is, will have to wait till they make an order with this supplier. They do this in the neighborhood of every 1-2 months. Willing to wait to have something stronger at a reasonable price. DX Engineering is selling their 2? 4340 galvanized mast now for $1200. These are for full length (21?-22?). So let me know if you are interested in also purchasing something like this for an upcoming project. Work well as a tower mast or a ground mounted mast for a vertical. I will work out something for a trailer to haul them when they come in. The place I use to rent a trailer from does not rent long flat trailers anymore. If you know of a better mast, please let me know. If there are any questions, feel free to email me at NR9Q at hotmail.com Chris Schulz NR9Q Pipe Size Schedule O.D. I.D. Wall Lbs per ft. Length Est. Olin had been a WIARC club member until the past couple of years and was quite the historian regarding radio and electronics in the Quincy area. Arrangements are pending with Triplett Funeral Home in Mendon. Please keep Olin's family in your thoughts and prayers as they deal with his passing.
