This applies especially to anyone that leaves their radio on all the time and might have a scanner on in the room with the your radio. We are having an issue where a transmitter is transmitting on the 147.030 repeater input frequency, 147.630, and rebroadcasting public service traffic. It is possible the audio source is a scanner and it sounds a lot like the transmitter is keying with VOX, but there could be other reasons the transmitter is keying up. The reason I am pretty sure it is a ham transmitter is the repeater is being brought up by the transmission, which requires the 103.5 tone be present. The station that is doing the rebroadcasting appears to be in or near Quincy as a couple of stations in Quincy say it is full scale when they check the repeater input. At any rate, please check your station and make sure it is not you. You can search by call, address, zip code or grid square. It does not show any ham with a PO box as the address on file with the FCC (such as AB9QW, KD9SRE, KA9VIM or W9DP). https://haminfo.tetranz.com/map/z/62301 This could be useful for a number of things and is fun just to see who lives where on a map. Danny W9DP From w9dp at w9dp.us Tue Oct 26 16:01:43 2021 From: w9dp at w9dp.us (w9dp at w9dp.us) Date: Tue, 26 Oct 2021 15:01:43 -0500 Subject: [WIARC] 147.030 issue resolved Message-ID: <0ed901d7caa4$4cce1320$e66a3960$@w9dp.us> The problem where we were hearing public service radio traffic on the 147.030 repeater has been resolved. A local ham found he had inadvertently created the problem with a console he uses for his ham radio and work radio. He realized the problem Monday evening and took care of it and apologized for causing the issue. In the process of looking into possible causes of the problem, WB9EWM did make a couple of trips to the 147.030 repeater site and while John was checking the performance of the 147.030 hardware, John set the 147.030 repeater to analog FM only, it was previously set to auto mode detect. The 443.900 repeater is the place to do C4FM digital and that repeater is still set for auto mode detect and will work with both analog and digital signals. A big thank you to WB9EWM for spending several hours trying to find the problem. A more in depth report will be presented a the November club meeting. Danny W9DP
