Subject: [WIARC] Antenna work day at Red Cross

Chris, NR9Q, is willing to do the antenna work at the Red Cross this coming Friday and/or Saturday. We will need to pick up the antenna at Chris's place in Mendon and take to the Red Cross for assembly and testing Friday morning. Once we have the antenna ready to go up, Chris will do the tower work. If we can have the antenna ready early enough on Friday, Chris's will do the tower work Friday, otherwise the climbing will be done Saturday.

Speak up if you can help, either with picking up the antenna, helping with assembly and testing or ground crew. We won't know for sure about the actual climbing until we have the antenna ready to install.

Please remember we do not have unlimited access to the Red Cross building, we will just be working in the parking lot or in the grass nearby.

You can reply through the reflector or directly to me.

The weather forecast seems to change every couple of hours. Right now, there
is only a slight chance of rain Friday morning and it increases slightly
into the afternoon, evening and into Saturday morning.

If it is not raining at 10:00 tomorrow morning, the plan is to meet in the
Red Cross parking lot to assemble the antenna. If it is raining but looks
like it will not last very long, we will start as soon as the rain lets up.
Feel free to bring along any tools or hardware that you think may be useful.

down from the tower at ARC and the new six-bander is in its place.

I will echo what Jim and Danny have already mentioned. Thanks so much for everyone that was able to help out Friday and Saturday. Having that many hands available. I know we had plenty of experience on hand, but I hope everyone learned something new. Really for ones that have done this stuff many times, doing it keeps those skills fresh. As the guy that was on the tower, I could not have done this with out all of you there. We might have had  to wrestle things around a bit at times. For everything that we needed to get accomplish on the tower today, it went really smooth.

The Friday yagi build was a lot of fun. Mosley needs to work on writing instructions better. A large color coded print with item numbers pointed out would have just been easier. We got through it and yagi test out really well. Did not get to see the final results, but I was told that the new antenna was right on. Another club success!

On September14th the QND Cross Country will host their annual High School
Cross Country Invitational Race. It has become the largest weekday Cross
Country Race in the State of Illinois and Missouri. 
We have been asked to provide Race Communications again. To do this I will
require 4  or 5 Hams to help me. The races will be held in South Park. The
First Race starts at 3:30pm and will be a Jr. High Race. The last Race will
start 5:30 pm and be done by 6:00 or very shortly after. We will be using
147.51 Simplex for the Races.
