[WIARC] Morning net thoughts

I think a 9 am meeting would be worth a try. I checked in a couple of times on the 6-7 meeting but as a rule I'm not up that early, a benefit of retirement. I can see that a latter time will not work well for everyone still trying to earn a living. I agree that the repeaters are too quiet. I sign in on 147.030 most of the time when I go mobile but rarely hear anyone else. I would turn on my base station more if I thought there was a reason to do so.

I like this idea. 9 AM during the week falls inside my work hours. On the weekend this could work for someone like myself and a similar status. I do agree more traffic would be nice. I know when we were more consistent at meeting in the morning between 6-7 am Monday-Friday we started picking up more people to our group. When I am working in Quincy I still check into the repeater at 6:30 or a little earlier on the weekdays.
If you are a local club member with in repeater range of the 147.030 please put forth your feedback on this. Just hit reply all to this email and it will go out to the club members for discussion. If 9 AM on weekdays is what folks would like to try I would at least try to listen in from work. I know myself I am busy what seems all to often. I do like catching people on the repeater locally when I am out mobile. So lets create some discussion on this topic.
ALSO, working on the meeting location for the meeting next Wednesday. Will get an email out to the reflector tomorrow afternoon. Going to take a swing at seeing if we can have it back at the Red Cross. So look for that info tomorrow or an alternate meeting spot. Jim (N9JF) still plans to hold the phone in conference call for the meeting also.
See or hear from you at the meeting,
Chris Schulz

I recently heard a repeater outside our area that was holding a semi-formal net at 9:00 AM. That got me to thinking, would anyone be interested in partaking of an casual morning net on 147.030? It could be a couple of times a week, it could be daily or it could be just weekdays. It could be after to going to work crew gets done or it could be later in the morning, or even in the afternoon.
My thoughts are our repeaters are underused and the weekly net on Wednesday does not seem to generate actual conversations, so maybe a morning net with no real objective but to chat with each other might stir up a little interest. For one reason or another, we all don't get together for coffee, maybe those that don't would still like the chance to chew the fat with some other local hams.
Any thoughts? Pro or con?
