Most of you have probably heard, but the ARRL is suggesting a modified Field
Day this year. To avoid groups getting together, they suggest we operate as
single operators and the aggregate score of all club members that get on and
send in logs, will count for the club score.
That creates some challenges, mostly with what class to operate. The
simplest would be to use our home station on commercial power (class D) but
the issue there is the Field Day rules says class D stations do not get
credit for working each other. If most stations do opt to go class D, scores
will suffer.
That leaves us with the issue of how to bets contribute to our club effort.
If you can operate on power other than commercial, that puts you in a
different class and you get credit from all other stations.
I am sure a few of you have already put some thought into this, how about
sharing your ideas?
Below are a couple of links about rules for this year's event and a
discussion on the suggested changes.
