From dpease at adams.net Sat Oct 17 10:44:05 2015 From: dpease at adams.net (Danny Pease) Date: Sat, 17 Oct 2015 09:44:05 -0500 Subject: [WIARC] ILQSO Party Sunday Message-ID: <017801d108ea$46044730$d20cd590$@adams.net> A reminder the Illinois QSO Party is Sunday October 18 starting at noon local time and going through 8:00 PM, local time. Please get on if you can and send in your log! Our log count has only been about a third of what it could be in the past few years, so please get on and send in your log! Logs can be emailed to n9jf at arrl.net or paper logs can be mailed to the club PO Box. If you computer log, please do not print it out sand mail a hard copy, email your log to N9JF! The club station will be in operation from about noon until the last man leaves Sunday evening, so if you have no place to operate, come on over and join the fun putting W9OAB on the air. Also, keep your 2 meter radios on 146.550 simplex and work everyone one you can on there as well. Some of our members may be only operating 2 meters and will want all the activity they can find. Don't forget 6 meters as well, most of us have 6 meter capabilities and the extra QSO will add up when there are 20 club members working each other. While we have not set a specific 6 meter frequency, it is safe to say almost all activity will be on or just above the SSB calling frequency of 50.125 USB. Rules, summary sheet and other information (including an Excel logging template) is available at: http://www.w9awe.org/ILQP2015.html Get on, make some noise and have fun! QSO Today has a podcast of an interview they did with Craig, K9CT, this very good and pretty in depth. It covers Craig's introduction into ham radio, his schooling, work, building his current stations and comments on some of his DX-peditions. It is rather long but very interesting. http://www.qsotoday.com/podcasts/k9ct Danny NG9R From dpease at adams.net Wed Oct 21 09:39:28 2015 From: dpease at adams.net (Danny Pease) Date: Wed, 21 Oct 2015 08:39:28 -0500 Subject: [WIARC] CQWW SSB this weekend Message-ID: <002301d10c05$e873d490$b95b7db0$@adams.net> This weekend is the CQWW SSB contest and I am looking for anyone that might be interested in operating from the club station as a part of a limited time, multi-operator effort. N9JF said he could be there part of Saturday, I can be there Friday evening, so we can have the station open at least for a few hours on Friday and several hours on Saturday, not sure about any other times yet. If you are interested in operating from the club station anytime this weekend, let me know of your interest and what day and times you can be there and we will try to work out a schedule to get everyone interested on the air. It can be seen at: http://www.w9awe.org/feedline.pdf For those that may not be aware of it, there is a pretty extensive archive of WIARC newsletters on the club web page. They can be found by year and month at: http://www.w9awe.org/Archive.html For those interested, this month's issue includes a list of items the club is wanting to sell. These items are being offered to the club members first and the listed prices are for WIARC members only. Any items that do not sell to club members within the next few weeks may be offered outside the club, probably at a slightly higher price. Please contact Danny, NG9R, if you have an interest in any of the items. The November meeting of the WIARC will be Wednesday November 4, 7:30 PM at the Red Cross in Quincy.
