Importance: High

24 APR 2012 - 1700 CDT

To All Illinois Amateur Radio Licensees:

I realize that many of you will probably receive extra copies of Tom
Ciciora's email alert appended below. However, this is our first real
opportunity to use the three part state political process (house --> Senate
--> Governor) to finally make it easier to use PRB-1 in defense of Amateur
Radio antenna installation issues in Illinois... and I want to make sure
everybody receives this message.

Please pass this message to all of your Illinois amateur radio friends,
family members, and other friends who you think will support this effort.

As Tom says below, please keep to the facts and the rationale (emergency
communications when all else fails) for making PRB-1 more effective in
Illinois. Please do not make threats or demands. It may make you feel
good, but it will only back-fire on us.

- George R. (Dick) Isely, W9GIG
   ARRL Central Division Director

***URGENT***

This has gotten out of the Rules Committee and is headed for a vote by the
full House, most likely next week. WE NEED YOUR HELP! Our good friend Rep.
Chuck Krezwick WV9C has joined with Rep. John Bradley to get our state PRB-1
passed out of the Rules Committee. If passed, this will give us a
state-level preemption of local antenna ordinances and mandate 'reasonable
accommodation' of our antennas.

RIGHT NOW: Please EMAIL your State Representative and ask him/her to support
HB1390 sponsored by Bradley and Krezwick. There is no time for snail mail.
Remember: facts, not emotion. Ask, don't demand. Accentuate our Service to
our communities. Again, 'fostering international good will' isn't going to
be enough. We need to demonstrate that we make a difference locally as 'all
politics are local'.

You have all risen to the occasion when I've asked. One more time, please!

73- Tom Ciciora, KA9QPN
     ARRL Illinois Section Manager
