PRESS RELEASE - FROM KB7UB, Dale Piedfort - June 27

Members of the Pia Colada Contest Club (KP2AA) will join forces with
the Federacin de Radioaficionados de Cuba in the first-ever joint
Cuban-U.S. Field Day operation June 28-29. Operating as COUS (and T42FD
for the "Get On The Air" newcomer station), the team will operate near
Havana on 80 through 2 meters (Grid Square EL83). Special commemorative
QSLs recognizing our common interest in emergency communications
preparedness, and international goodwill through Amateur Radio, will be
available for SASE or SAE and other return postage. QSL via K7JA.

Operators will include CO2OJ, CO2II, CM2OY, CO2KL, plus CO2KK, CO2JA and
others; W1HIJ, K6PEQ, KF6SGV, N6PEQ, K7JA, and KL7MF.

DX operators are advised that the proper exchange for the ARRL Field Day
is a "class" and a location designator. For home stations running
commercial power, the class is 1D, and for mobiles the class is 1C.
Stations outside the U.S. and Canada use "DX" as their QTH locator, so a
typical FD report from a European station would be "1D DX." Signal
reports are not exchanged in the ARRL Field Day contest, which begins at
1800 UTC June 28 and ends 2100 UTC June 29.

All the operators and support people look forward to making as many QSOs
as possible and demonstrating our ability to provide a worldwide
emergency communications link throughout the duration of Field Day in
this, its second year as an IARU Region 2 event.
