[WIARC] K0CA SS Score

Hi Danny. Yes, on Saturday I did mostly S&P for mult's. Sunday I became
convinced that the only way I was going to work VO1MP and several other
sections was to CQ, since they were only S&P'ing. I was able to keep a good
rate CQ'ing on 15 and 20, and an excellent rate on 40m.

Yes, it was a big comfort when VO1MP called me on 10 m for the sweep, and
there was still almost 8 hours left in the contest. It took the pressure
off.

Since I ran Unlimited (packet assisted), I went ahead and kept the amp
warmed up, but only used it when I was doing battle for one of the few rare
ones. I didn't have trouble keeping my rate up with 200 watts from the Mark
V, but the 200 as compared to 100 watts out helps in that regard. And I
think it's easier to keep a rate going on CW low power than on SSB.

Good luck in the phone running of SS. I entered it last year to help SMC.
But I'm not too enthused about phone contests, and not sure whether I'll do
anything in it this year. I hope to make the Quincy meeting next week, so
may see you then.

73, Cliff
