I took my Kenwood 570 with me on vacation to Colorado to get on for this. My
plan was to, in the evening from the hotel, go outside and string the 20
meter dipole (that I made just for this occasion) discreetly in a tree to be
taken down before bed time so that nobody gets their view spoiled in the
morning. The problem was that the high for the first 3 days we were there
was 1 below zero. By the time we were in and dinner done and I could start
to work it was typically 10 to 15 below zero! Needless to say me desire to
get on was overridden by my desire not to be outside in the cold! I tried a
quick install in the cold in a small tree right outside the hotel room door
but couldn't get the antenna to load up on anything but 6 meters. I did
listen in though.

This is the weekend to make MAJOR noise on the HF bands: ARRL SSB. There
will be a lot of DX stations to work! Log all of your contact info and turn
in your score to me for the "Pizza Hut Challenge". So far the teams
captained by K0RL and N9DT are running neck-and-neck, with the other two
teams yet to report from the CW weekend.

Go team!
