Let me pass on a word of appreciation from the NWS Pitttsburgh and from me personally.
We had nine stations check-in to our North Central West Virginia Skywarn Net during the Severe Thunderstorm Warning this afternoon. The Marion Skywarn Net had six check-ins.
I know that 15 total Skywarn check-ins may not sound like a lot. But it is—especially when you consider that the Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued without any significant notice. And it occured in February. Who expects Severe Thunderstorm Warnings in February?
But you were there on the W8MWA and W8SP repeaters letting us know that you were monitoring and available!
The severe cell missed most of us (thankfully) but those reports from areas that were hit were very much appreciated and valued. The NWS Pittsburgh said so and they said it publically:
Thanks to the West Virginia ham radio operators on the Skywarn Nets, Jeffrey. Their reports were very helpful! — Matthew Brudy, NWS Pittsburgh
So, yes. thank you for a job well done!
73,
Jeff, WB1AAL
