Regarding Snowfall and our Skywarn Net.
The guidance from the NWS Pittsburgh is for us to report snowfall accumulations of three inches or greater. The current forecast for Marion and Monongalia counties is for one to two inches by Thursday morning. The forecast for Preston and Tucker counties is for two to four inches in that same timeframe.
Given our guidance, unless Preston and Tucker are on the high end there likely will not be enough snowfall accumulations through Thursday morning to warrant activating the Skywarn net. Should things change, however, I will be sure to let you know.
From the NWS Pittsburgh:
Rain is expected to changeover to snow late in the afternoon into the early evening hours. Temperatures are also expected to rapidly cool behind a cold front. This will pose some travel concerns with the potential for refreezing water and additional snow during the night.
