Well it's almost that time. The parade is scheduled for December 10 this
year. Attached is the latest parade line-up map. Basically the same as
in the past but we're trying to get more units on Prospect St. and off
of Willey St. this year. This should make for better traffic control /
movement.
As before, we'll be providing reports to the director as to how many
units are still in the queue, problems encountered, helping to direct
participants to get where they're supposed to be to line up, etc. We
need at least 10 people for this to work right. More will be better.
If you can help, please let me know and if you have a preference as to
location. We'll meet in the parking lot across from the church on North
High St. at 4:00PM. Line-up starts at 4:30 but there are always a few
units that show up early as well as some at the last minute. We take
them all.
As of the last check the weather forecast has gone from sunny to
possible ice that day. I fully expect it will be changing at least twice
between now and then. Plan to dress for the weather. Also if you have a
reflective vest please wear that. It helps us to be seen and identified.
I will have a couple extras someone can borrow if needed.
The parade kicks off at 6:00PM and usually lasts around an hour,
sometimes less, sometimes more depending on the number of units. The
last count was 44 units. This number usually almost doubles as people
just show up without notifying the coordinators. It's just the way it
is. I'll have, probably close to the day, a list of units and line-up
positions I'll get out to everyone.
And the end of the event is, as always, a pizza party. This year it will
be held at Pizza Al's in Sabraton. The one we usually used is now closed
at that location. Directions or rides can be arranged.
Hope to see you there. It's a bit chaotic but a lot of fun.
Randy
