During yesterday evening’s Mon County ARES Net, Jim, KC8YUI, commented that I have sent out some 40 winter weather related emails. The number surprised me, but I realize that we are indeed having a very active winter in terms of weather conditions.

When the NWS Pittsburgh or NWS Charleston WV issue a Special Weather Statement or an Urgent Message or a Winter Storm Warning for North Central West Virginia I want to make sure that I send it to you. And there have been a lot of them this winter!

And now here we go again…from the NWS Pittsburgh:

An active week of weather is ahead with each system offering different impacts for portions of North Central West Virginia.

The latest: - Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory for snow accumulations in effect for Tuesday into early Wednesday in the higher terrain locations. - Winter Storm Watch in effect Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning for eastern Tucker County with the threat of freezing rain. - Additional wintry weather is possible this weekend, but uncertainty remains high on favored areas of impact and system totals.

While there are currently no Warnings or Advisories for Morgantown and Fairmont. However, both cities can expect to see 2 to 4 inches of accumulation from this first storm. Snow is likely to start falling this morning and continue throughout the day.
